Podcast 23 is an interview I conducted with Ben Wells from Black Stone Cherry. They are a truly excellent hard rock band from Kentucky – this is a short little interview. We cover writing songs, the current tour and the horribly named flea market he was at when I called him. Please excuse the shitty audio on my side in the beginning, I’m trying to figure out the perfect board configuration for these phoners… still.
DJ and I spoke with Phil Elverum of Mount Eerie and, formerly, The Microphones. Mount Eerie is about to begin a two month international tour. Interview topics include: tuba playing, songwriting and the questionable existence of ghosts. Mount Eerie has several records out right now and a new album coming down the pike. Mike Keller of The Red Chord was kind enough to take some time out of his day to talk to me on Wednesday, February 27th. I fucked up the date and I was planning on editing it out, but ultimately decided to leave everything in. I don’t know what’s up with all the background noise… I tried a few new things in the studio which I guess I’ll never try again. Anyway, Mike was a very cool guy and I really enjoy this interview.
Return to Earth is Bald Freak Records’ founder Ron Scalzo’s new project with guitarist Brett Aveni and Chris Pennie (Dillinger Escape Plan/Coheed and Cambria). Their first album Captains of Industry is front to back one of the best pop/rock records I’ve heard in years. THIS INTERVIEW IS VERY NOT SAFE FOR WORK OR EVEN FOR CONSUMPTION BY THE ELDERLY/UPTIGHT. That said, everything we say is in jest and just for the sake of humor.
I got a chance to sit down with presidential hopeful Roy Joseph Verspoor at his cottage on eastern Long Island. He was very amiable and, as you can tell by the following interview, he has a lot to say about the political environment… in 2024.
