I don’t know how I feel about this…
Metallica’s new album, “Death Magnetic” comes out on September 12th accoring to metacritic.com. The tracklisting and cover art was released a few weeks ago and sheds no more light on whether or not it will suck. Unless “The Unforgiven III” is a 5 second track of James Hetfield saying “Hahaha just fucking with ya…” I’m going to go into this album very pessimistically.
Another new song has been played live and you can view it below. It’s called “Cyanide” which is a typically brutal thrash title, but I just don’t know how I feel about the song. There was a comment which said it sounded like “2×4″ mixed with anything off “…And Justice For All” and I tend to agree. It really sounds like it’s 6 minutes plus for absolutely no reason.
I think we all learned that long songs does not a good Metallica album make when they released “St. Anger” a few years back. If we can all take a second to remember the hype of “Metallica going back to their roots!!!”. That album sucked and I have a feeling that the band and Rick Rubin have failed once again, though I’ll reserve judgement until the album actually drops.
