*Squeals Like Little Girl*

I have many, many guilty and very embarassing pleasures – Mountain Dew Slurpees, the mom from Malcolm in the Middle, 10 Things I Hate About You, and of course Puddle of Mudd. This is  nothing of the sort. I’m an unabashed Elton John and Billy Joel fan and, frankly, if you aren’t you’re probably a 13 year old who still refers to things he doesn’t like as “gay” or you’re so far up your ass in metal that you refuse to listen to anything that isn’t released by people with the same vowel repeated in sequence in their name.

But I digress; the point of the article is this – EltonJohn.com has announced a  wonderful piece of news. It appears the Rocket Man and the Piano Man are doing a few Face2Face dates. Hopefully this will lead to more dates so I can convince my dad that it would be a great father and son bonding experience and totally worth the $1800 it’ll cost for the two of us to be close enough to actually see the stage.

For most of my life I wrote these two off as boring and cheesy. Then, I kind of got into piano based music and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road completely blew my mind. A few years later, I started drinking heavily and reminiscing about how great summers during High School on Long Island were and somehow three or four Billy Joel records made their way into my collection.

Long boring description of my personal history with the music of Bill Joel and Elton John short, I had the pleasure of seeing Billy Joel rock the balls off Shea Stadium for 3+ hours this summer. It was a magical experience to say the absolute least – I group it with Guns n’ Roses at the Hammerstein, and Aerosmith at the Beacon. I absolutely can’t wait to see these two Face 2 Face.
