petey.jpg I am going to attempt to do two movie reviews in this edition of Pete Marsh’s Metal Movie Reviews. Unheard of!!!! I know. The only problem I have with putting these two movies in the same review is the fact that The Wrestler does not come close in comparison with Slum Dog Millionaire. It is no secret that I am an avid wrestling fanatic and surely annoyed most of my housemates last year, for the exception of Jonah, every Monday night watching Raw. However, The Wrestler, a movie I believed to have endless potential, seemed to focus only on the negative aspects of professional wrestling. And it continued to get sadder and grimmer as it went on. But what can I say about SLUM DOG MILLIONAIRE! It had great music, hot girls, a poor dude getting a millionaire bucks, and an overall feel good movie, an instant top fiver on the prestigious Pete Marsh Movie List. This movie is in great company with such classics as Rocky, Iron Man (another instant top 5er), Rambo, and any movie with Kirsten Dunst who I desire with all my soul. So I’ll kick it off with The Wrestler. Enjoy!

So when I tried watching The Wrestler on my PC…I indeed am a PC…, I feel asleep three times until I was able to finish it. I had high, very high, expectations for this movie hoping this would be a movie about the crazy life of a wrestler on the road who would be getting wasted, picking hot girls, winning titles, and traveling the world but instead was put to sleep watching Micky Rourke sleep in his trailer and continually argue with his daughter. And the parts that I wanted to see such as getting wasted and picking up dah ladies, the movie went out of its way to make these acts look like a sin. NOT IN THE BOOK OF MARSH, it’s two of the commandments ;) So anyway I just got tired of watching this old, beaten up has-been doing crappy wrestling gigs in the middle of no-where and in front of like 30 people. I do have to give Micky some love though his matches were great. He had a classic bout and a hardcore bout, both very respectable. And I did like Mickey’s taste in music, aka 80’s hairMETAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. hehehe, im dat metal, get used to it…….ummmm where was I…..so this wasn’t a terrible movie but pretty mediocre. And being a History major who focused on wrestling and movies, I think my review of a 7.0 out of 10 should be the only review that counts, whatever that means.

Okay, let’s get to the good stuff. Slummy Dawg was a great, great movie. Wow is all I can say after watching this movie a month ago and thinking back to it. I remember being at work and not knowing anything about this movie and one of my co-workers told me, “Pete you have to see this movie, it was hella incredible and not just coz I was stoned” and I was like I “DOOD, I got to see this movie”…hella = very, in the 2nd best state next to New YORK, REPRESENT!!!! OKAY ill try not to get off task here. So the movie came to my local theatre a week later and off I went. I had high expectations and for the first time my expectations was surpassed. Everything was prefect and glorious. Now let me explain the genius plot of this film. After this Indian kid wins Who Wants to be a Millionaire in India, he is being interrogated about how he got the answers, on suspicion of cheating and as the investigator goes through each question the young man explains how he got the answers from his childhood past of being a hustler and having to move from place to place. But there is another plot from when he goes back to his childhood memories of his love for his friend, Latika…totally smoking hot may I add…who he does everything to get her back. The two plots collide in the end for some totally rawkin cinematic magic that makes you want to jump up and high five everyone in the theatre. But I hate to give away movies, as I have repeatedly said and feel even giving away even the slightest of this movie would take away from the greatness of this film. PEOPLE go watch this MOVIE, you won’t be disappointed!!!!! As I said earlier it became an instant top 5er a month ago and has stayed there, a true testament of how grand this movie is.

Finally to wrap up another epic Movie Madness Review with your American Hero, I just want to talk about something I saw in the theatre yesterday before seeing “The Race to Witch Mountain”…good movie with the RoCK!!!…Fox is coming out with a Dragonball movie that sucks sooooo bad that I can’t put it into words. From the previews it looked like they totally destroyed the plot of the DBZ series and ruined all of the characters. I am very, very, very, hella, hella, hella, disappointed and I will surely be boycotting this film.

Anywho, its St. Patty’s day so I’m off to get DRUNK!!!!!!!!!

Follow and Obey Forever,
Your American Hero,
